In the midst of the new admissions campaign, the Financial Office, the Degree Programmes Office, and the Prospective Students Office have prepared answers to the most frequent questions about tuition fees for students and applicants.
You can transfer funds to the university account specified in the agreement, or use HSE Payments (no bank commission). To pay, you must enter the student's full name and contract number into the system. Another convenient method is payment through the HSE App X mobile application. Payment for the first half of the year must be made within three working days after signing the educational agreement.
If you have been admitted to a paid place in a bachelor's/specialist programme that has available budget places, you can receive a scholarship:
— based on the results of entrance exams (the sum of points from all exam results without taking into account individual achievements);
— based on the results of participation in academic competitions (olympiads);
— based on the results of studying at HSE Lyceum;
— based on the results of studying at the Faculty of Pre-University Training;
— based on the results of studying at the School of Physics and Mathematics under MIEM HSE;
— based on the results of studying at base and key regional schools, as well as regional centres of HSE University;
— based on the results of studying at schools of the HSE Distributed Lyceum;
— based on All-Russian competitions and case championships.
Scholarships are granted for only one criteria listed in the HSE University order. If a student is entitled to a scholarship on several grounds, they must choose one at their discretion. The validity period of the scholarship and the rules for maintaining the same are specified in an addendum to the educational agreement. HSE University also awards scholarships that can be provided at the expense of the faculty. More detailed information can be found here.
Please note that fully paid educational programmes have their own scholarship rules. These rules can be reviewed on the website of the educational programme or you can check with the admissions committee before signing a contract.
A scholarship is provided at the end of the academic year if the student:
— has no more than two grades of 4 and/or 5 points on a 10-point scale on intermediate assessments;
— has no grades below 4 points on a 10-point scale based on intermediate assessment results.
The scholarship amount depends on the student’s rating. If, based on the sum of the latest two ratings, you are in the 15, 25, or 50% of the rating, you may receive a discount of 70, 50, and 25%, respectively. During the summer period, scholarships are calculated based on the current rating after retake exams of the first half of the year and the current rating before retake exams of the second half of the year. More details can be found here.
A student may be deprived of any scholarship in the event of violating the HSE University Charter, the Student Internal Regulations at HSE University, the Internal Dormitory Regulations, and other local acts on the organisation and implementation of educational activities.
Furthermore, one can lose their centralised scholarship based on the results of admission to bachelor's/specialist programmes (unless based on the results of entrance tests) and master's programmes if one receives a grade below 4 points in the previous academic year, as well as more than two grades of 4 and/or 5 points (according to 10-point scale) based on the results of intermediate assessment before retake exams or in the case of failure to show up for assessment tests without a valid reason.
If academic debt remains after the end of the retake period, the student also loses their centralised scholarship based on study results.
Yes, HSE University students can take additional courses or entire elective modules. To do this, one needs to contact their educational office and sign an agreement on attending the selected courses.
One can choose additional modules offered by HSE University, or create an additional module from any disciplines available, taking into account the prerequisites. The cost is calculated in proportion to the credits of the additional module.
