On September 2 and 3, Pokrovka will host the exhibition '20 Years since the Beslan Tragedy' and the collection of humanitarian aid for affected residents of the Kursk region

The Ossetian Club at HSE University and the patriotic student organisations 'White Raven' and 'Ursa Major' took the initiative to honour the memory of those who lost their lives in the Beslan tragedy of 2004.

The Central Atrium of Pokrovka will feature an exhibition of archival photographs, a screening of documentary footage, and an installation commemorating the days of the Beslan tragedy. The Permanent Mission of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania supported the exhibition by providing photo and video materials.

It is our duty to remember the tragedy. But it is equally important not to forget those who need help today.

During the days of the exhibition, humanitarian aid will be collected for children and adults affected in the Kursk region. The aid collection is led by the HSE Centre for Leadership and Volunteer Work  with support from the  Local Branch of the Russian Red Cross Society in Akademichesky District.

What to bring to humanitarian aid collection

• Diapers, underpads, baby powder, wet wipes
• Non-perishable baby food: dry formula, fruit purees
• Children's toys and stationery
• Clothes (new with tags)
• Drinking water (priority given to 5-liter, 2-liter, and 1.5-liter bottles).
• Food items: buckwheat, rice, millet, oatmeal, pasta, flour, vegetable oil, canned goods (meat, fish, vegetables), sugar, salt, sweets, crackers, dry biscuits, crispbread, packaged tea (25 teabags), coffee, condensed milk
• Hygiene products: towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, bar soap, laundry detergent, antiseptic, wet wipes, toilet paper, shaving foam, feminine hygiene products
• Bedding (new with tags): bed linens, blankets, pillow

When: September 2 and 3 from 10:00 to 18:00.

Where: 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar, Central atrium.
