Traditionally, every year on its birthday the university celebrates the participants of the Golden HSE Award. And this time we’ll also be celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Professors Wednesdays project, as well as the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities.
According to Valeria Kasamara, HSE Director for Corporate Projects, this year it will be a musical holiday, which makes sense, since Professors’ Wednesday is the heart of the university’s music life. Musica Viva orchestra and Intrada vocal band have been invited to perform at the first anniversary of the project. Marina Lebed, Head of the HSE Centre of Music Projects, explained the choice: ‘For this celebration we are not limited to the capacity of our concert hall, as we usually are during our Professors’ Wednesdays on Myasnitskaya. That’s why we’ve decided to invite some really big performers’.
Musica Viva orchestra and Intrada vocal band will play the oratorio Magnificat by J.C. Bach. Bach created this piece to celebrate Christmas, so it will be perfect to play at the HSE celebration in the lead up to Christmas. Five soloists will participate in the performance, and all of them are from Moscow’s leading opera theatres – the Bolshoi Theatre, Novaya Opera, and Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre.
The performance will take place at the Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT), 2 Teatralnaya Ploshad. Guests are welcome to come for 6 pm. HSE staff can get invitations from December 6 in room 527, 20 Myasnitskaya Ulitsa, between 12 and 6 pm.
