On March 14, 2014 the photo competition ‘Vyshka. Self-portrait’ successfully came to a conclusion. It’s the first time a photo competition has taken place at the HSE Saint Petersburg, and was held in honour of the 15th anniversary of the Saint Petersburg HSE campus. There were three separate awards available, one from the jury, one based on public voting through the social network Vkontakte, and one from the organisers of the HSE Music Festival 2014. The best works will be exhibited in the HSE campuses in Saint Petersburg and printed in HSE promotional brochures, including publications in English. The competition was open to HSE students, lecturers, and the university staff, while the jury included students, administrative staff and lecturers. The directors of the International Office, PR Department and the Unit for Extracurricular Work were also part of the jury.
The main goal of the contest is to promote the HSE Saint Petersburg on an international level, but the contest was also designed to help improve the HSE corporate culture, and to fulfill the participants’ creative potential. As Ksenia Kuzmina, Head of the Unit for Extracurricular and Educational Work at the HSE Saint Petersburg, explained, the contest had no specific format or stylistic requirements, entrants were free to express their creativity however they wished.
The HSE Saint Petersburg plans to organize the event annually, and promote it among HSE Russian and international partners.
The winners of the jury’s prize will be announced on March 20, 2014. From the voting in Vkontakte, Evgeny Trubnikov, Ekaterina Alekhina and Lisa Chechemina got the most ‘likes’ on the group page.
