From July 7−18, 2014, a seminar called ‘Russia and Global Food Security’ took place as part of the HSE Summer University. This is the second such event to take place under a consortium made up of universities from eight countries — the U.S. (George Mason University), Turkey (Istanbul Sehir University), Kenya (Kenyatta University), China (Tsinghua University), Brazil (University of Brasilia), India (University of Delhi), Korea (Yonsei University) and Russia (Higher School of Economics).
Each year consortium representatives choose their best students to take part in summer schools on global problems. In 2013, George Mason University hosted a seminar on Water Management and Environmental Sustainability. This year, the HSE is hosting the event, with the topic devoted to the global food problem and related issues (e.g., climate change, fresh water shortages, and natural disasters).
More information on the consortium can be found by visiting George Mason University’s page.
