HSE Extreme Sports Club invites students, lecturers, and graduates of all HSE campuses as well as their families and friends to spend a week in Finland from 31st January to 6th February 2016. Finland is a great destination if you enjoy snowboarding, ice fishing and other winter activities.
‘Ruka is one of the largest and most famous ski resorts in Finland, and is near the Arctic circle,' said club leader Harry Rutberg. 'You can slide down the slopes on ski and snowboards go sledding with dogs or reindeer, and also take part in snowmobile safaris, go ice fishing and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. In the evening you can relax in the sauna, play billiards or enjoy music and dancing in a nightclub. And, as an added bonus, the Northern lights here are fantastic’.
There are 34 slopes in the Ruka Ski Resort (30 of them are illuminated), 21 ski lifts (5 chairlifts). The HSE Extreme Sports Club can provide participants with sports equipment if they don’t have their own skis and snowboards. Experienced instructors will help beginners learn skiing or snowboarding. Training for those interested in sledding with dogs or reindeer, or a snowmobile safari will also be organised. The programme also includes a visit to a water park.
Participants will stay in comfortable cottages – cozy cabins with fireplaces and private entrances, located in a forest. There are 3 separate rooms for two people in each cabin, free WiFi, a sauna, a drying cabinet, a fireplace and a kitchen.
The cabins are located 2 km from the centre of the resort, there is a lift nearby that transports tourists to the main slopes and the square in the centre of the town. There is also a bus that goes straight to the centre (groups travel for free!)
The group will travel to Ruka from Moscow with a transfer in St. Petersburg and back via the same route, so the trip for HSE students and staff members in St. Petersburg will be shorter.
