The nomination process for HSE Golden Award is currently underway. Afterwards, the Golden HSE jury comprising representatives of all faculties, campuses and HSE Lyceum will select short-listed nominees in each category and determine the winners in Silver Nestling category. The winners in all other categories will be selected by Contest Committee.
Seventy-two jury members were suggested by deans of HSE faculties, campuses and the HSE Lyceum and approved by Rector decree. After the period for candidate nomination closes on October 30, the jury will carefully examine each application and vote in electronic form until November 13. The full list of jury members can be found on the award page.
The HSE News Service spoke with several members of the jury about the significance of this award in the university life and why it is important for HSE staff and students to nominate their candidates.
Irina Shafranskaya,
Associate Professor, HSE Campus in Perm
HSE’s rapid development does not always let us stop and look around to see what makes the university a success. In my opinion, it is primarily determined by the people who work here.
We spend a lot of time at the university, but we rarely praise each other. The Golden HSE is a way to recognize the merits of our colleagues, the value of their experience, and their contribution to HSE’s development. The nomination itself is above all a demonstration of your attentive attitude to your colleague’s work – of your informal regard that is not dependent on student assessments, publication activity or the administrative position of the nominee.
Each of us knows the name of a colleague, without whom the university would not be the same as it is now. That person may be the teacher who once helped you begin your first lecture in front of a huge audience, or, on contrary, a colleague who is still in the early stages of his or her career and who is vigorously, bravely and successfully transforming conservative education formats. Look around – there must be someone next to you who deserves to win the Golden HSE Award.
Grigory Kantorovich
Professor, Faculty of Economic Sciences, Two-time winner of the Golden HSE Award
The Golden HSE Award is the same age as the new millennium. Natalia Osipova came up with the idea to establish the award, and everyone immediately liked it.
I was lucky to become the first winner in the university teaching success category in 2001. Of course, I was proud, and I did my best to live up to this honorary status. Looking at the list of the winners and nominees, we can learn about HSE’s history. These are not only key people, but also crucial events in the history of our development. It’s a pity that we don’t have such a view of the first years of HSE.
In the ensuing years, the categories have been modified, and thenomination and selection procedures have changed. Today's procedures and information technology help us to capture the names of both nominees, and all candidates for the award, for purposes of posterity. These are people whose contribution to our common life was noticed and acknowledged by colleagues! After all, it’s not just two dozen nominees who determine the image of our large and multifaceted university.
I would like to invite my colleagues – teachers, students and staff — to nominate the best, and preserve their names in HSE history.
