Associate Professor in HSE Perm’s Foreign Languages Department, Marina Sheveleva has been named a finalist in the Fulbright Faculty Development Program competition. She will spend six months living and working at Montclair Public Research University (US).

From March 24-28, 2015, Toronto (Canada) hosted the TESOL 2015 International Convention and English Language Expo. It drew more than 5,600 professionals from 91 countries who planned to cross borders and build bridges. There were more than 1,000 academic sessions offered in Toronto. Aida Rodomanchenko, Head of learning and teaching office at the School of Foreign Languages at HSE was the only speaker from Russia. Her talk was entitled 'Roundtable Discussion as an Alternative to a Traditional Oral Examination'.

Master's students in the Political Linguistics programme presented papers at a joint Russian-American seminar.

Julia Lajus, Associate Professor at the History Department and Senior Research Fellow, Center for Historical Research of the Higher School of Economics in Saint Petersburg, became a participant from Near Neighbour Countries in the project of the European network COST – Action IS1403 'Oceans Past Platform (OPP)'.

Alexander Lukin, Head of the School of International Affairs took part in the International Symposium on ‘BRICS-II: Institutionalization & Macau’, which took place on May 6-7 in Macau, Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

On March 16-20 Mikhail Antonov, Associate Professor at the Department of Theory and History of Law and State and Sergei Akopov, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science delivered a series of lectures in English and French on legal and political system of the Russian Federation during the conference orgaznised by HSE partner university Science Po Aix-en-Provence.

HSE Masters student Alexei Lukashkin talks about his impressions of the exchange programme with the French and comparative literature department (Littérature française et comparée) of the Faculty of Philology (Lettres) of Paris IV (Sorbonne).

The head of the Political Sciences programme, Associate Professor at the HSE Perm Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Yuri Vasilenko has given a series of lectures on the ‘History of Russian civilization and Russia’s contemporary politics’ at universities in Spain.

On January 22-23 Norway’s University of Tromsø held the ‘Norwegian Graduate Student Conference in Linguistics and Philology (NoSLiP),’ organized by the Norwegian Graduate Researcher School in Linguistics and Philology.

Eight students of HSE Perm graduated from ‘Business Strategies in a Global Environment’ – a joint master’s programme run by HSE and the University of Essex.

On December 3, 2014, a delegation consisting of some of the largest Chinese universities from the BRICS Universities League visited HSE St. Petersburg. The group included the Vice President of Zhejiang Normal University, the Deputy Dean of Tsinghua University's Institute of International Relations, and leadership from Fudan University's Centre for BRICS Studies.

The visit by our Chinese partners is an organic part of the agreement between our universities to work together in academic and research fields. This year a group of Chinese students attended an HSE Nizhny Novgorod summer school and in September our students returned from Sichuan province where they were studying Chinese law-enforcement practices.
