Volunteers from the Open Your Eyes student project (HSE) and the Joy of Old Age (Starost' v Radost') foundation spent Victory Day with 600 seniors at Rzhevsky care facility. The volunteers brought presents collected by HSE students and staff members, and organized a concert.

On April 27^th,  the second ‘HSE Science Battles’ were held at the tech hub ‘Kluch’. The event brought together various participants, with Elizaveta Kuzmenko, who spoke about distributional semantics, winning the battle.

On April 23, the results of the 2017 National Best Dorm Competition were announced in St. Petersburg. The team of HSE’s dorm on 21A Zaporozhskaya Ulitsa was the final winner following an expert evaluation of the dorm’s infrastructure, a legal review, video presentations, and presentations of development programmes.

On April 18, 2017 a Donor Day was held at HSE on 33 Kirpichnaya ulitsa. The event was organized by the students in Business Informatics of the Faculty of Business and Management in cooperation with the Blood Centre of the Federal Biomedical Agency.

Studies and work can only be effective if recreation is also organized properly. The HSE Extreme Sports Club has come up with several ideas on how to have an active and energetic rest in spring and summer.

Maria Kochneva, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Management at HSE Nizhny Novgorod presented her report at the ‘Gender and Sexuality in Russia, Eastern Europe and Eurasia: Past and Present’ conference held at the University of Nottingham. Maria shared her impressions of the event with the HSE news service.

On April 7, 2017, Jan De Groof, Professor at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and Tilburg University (the Netherlands), delivered a lecture on ‘Contemporary and Future Challenges of Education Law and Education Rights, Especially for Russia’. The event was organized by the HSE Institute of Education and the Faculty of Law.

From this new academic year HSE students will receive scholarship cards bearing a unique HSE design chosen by the students themselves.

Rukevwe Etikini, first-year student in the Political Analysis and Public Policy Master’s programme, participated in the 18th annual Geneva International Model United Nations (GIMUN) conference and shared his impressions of the event.

TED is a conference focused on spreading unique and groundbreaking ideas. The lecture topics are varied, including science, art, design, politics, culture, business, global issues, technology, and entertainment. The TEDx project helps people in different countries, cities, universities and communities organize independent conferences in a TED style. Anastasia Polozova, graduate of the programme in Global Business has initiated the organization of a similar event in Nizhny Novgorod.
