Russian Universities Need New Rules and Regulations to Get into World Top Rankings

The HSE hosted the second general meeting of members of the Global Universities association on October 8. They discussed issues relating to attracting international students to Russian universities, about possibilities for the accreditation of programmes in new specialties and about the leading universities' conferring degrees.

On September 30, Yaroslav Kuzminov, rector of the Higher School of Economics, and representatives of the HSE met with a delegation from Japan’s Tohoku University led by the university’s president, Susumu Satomi. Both sides signed university-wide agreements on cooperation and academic and students exchange between the universities in the fields of linguistics, economics and management and other areas of mutual interest.

High Demand for Education in BRIC Countries is Built on a Lack of Respect for Trades

A HSE Institute of Education seminar on September 16, saw the launch of the Russian-language book Mass higher education – BRIC triumph?  by HSE publishing house (the English original, University Expansion in a Changing Global Economy, Triumph of the BRICs? was published last year by Stanford University Press). Attendees discussed development trends in higher education.
