Summer school of Russian 2021 is open for applications

For the second half of summer 2021 we are planning to offer  an intensive 6-week summer program at HSE campus (it is possible although that the program might be shifted to online format due to quarantine measures) for students with the Intermediate and Advanced levels of the Russian language proficiency from July 5 through August 12.

The full 6-week program will include  120 academic hours of Russian (20 hours per week) , with classes  Monday through Thursday (10 a.m. – 3:50 p.m.), and excursions around Moscow on the weekends (entrance fees, tickets to museums, etc. are not included in the program fee). The students will have accommodation in HSE dormitory or at a hostel in Moscow city center. The cost of accommodation is not included into the program fees.

The minimal time of participation is
four weeks. The cost of the program depends on its duration.

For individual students the cost of the 6-week program (20 hours per week) is 2100 US dollars . It includes tuition, tutors' help (10 hours per week, the tutors will come to the dorm / hostel to help with homework, everyday living questions, and organizing tours for the weekends), and letter of invitation for student’s visa.


The summer school program offers
various courses depending on the level of the Russian language proficiency.

 


At the intermediate level:

Practical course of the Russian language (a systematic course in all the aspects of Russian: speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar);

Conversation practice (develops speaking skills in different situations of communication);

Reading in Russian (involves work with both authentic and adapted contemporary texts in Russian);

Russian phonetics and intonation (further develops skills of natural Russian pronunciation).

 


At the advanced level:

Practical course of Russian (a review of difficulties of the Russian grammar; further develops speaking, listening, reading and writing skills at the advanced level);

Russian through Politics (an overview of contemporary texts and media sources devoted to the most important social and political situations, phenomena and personalities in Russia. The combination of linguistic and political aspects allows students to obtain not only linguistic, but also political and legal knowledge);

Russian in Business Media (is based on working with texts, audio and video materials of the modern Russian business media in such areas as ‘person’, ‘society’, ‘economics’, ‘world’, etc.);

Russian through the modern films (includes working with the modern Russian films and TV shows in order to both get familiar with the Russian lifestyle, and also to expand the vocabulary, improve grammar, and tune the language intuition in different registers / communication styles of the Russian language).
