How many applications for a postdoc’s research project can an HSE subdivision submit?

The number of such applications is not limited.

Is it possible for a research supervisor to edit the application while working on it?

Yes, you may edit the application, save changes, and submit it later.

Is it possible that the application for a postdoc’s research project is submitted not by a research supervisor, but by a project coordinator (for instance, lab manager)?

Yes, it is. In this case a project coordinator is an initiator of the application. She/he can choose a project supervisor in the appropriate field. Right after that the application will be received by the head of the subdivision, and then by the Programme coordinators.

Is it possible to make changes in the application if there are any mistakes?

Yes, it is. In this case the Programme coordinators will send the application to be revised. You may change there anything you need. Right after that the application will be received by the head of the subdivision, and then by the Programme coordinators.

Who evaluates applications?

All the applications are evaluated by the competition committee of the Russian Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The committee members are appointed annually in accordance with the competition procedure.

What are the evaluation criteria?

They can be found in the Regulations on the Selection Procedure of Russian Postdoctoral Fellows to the Subdivisions of HSE University (in Russian).

Are there any other activities at the university available for Russian postdocs apart from doing research? For instance, mentoring students or teaching.

Yes, there are. All the options are listed in the Selection Procedure of Russian Postdoctoral Fellows (in Russian).

What are the requirements to renew the contract with a Russian postdoc for the second year of the Program?

The postdocs are required to fulfill the current research plan. If the additional financing is provided by the subdivision the candidate will be prioritized.

Is it possible to make any changes to the postdoc’s research plan?

Can the postdoc’s research supervisor be changed for the second year of the Programme? How should it be arranged?

Yes, it is possible to do that. This information must be added to the application and also sent via e-mail to the Programme coordinators: postdoc.ru@hse.ru.

Which Internet browser must be used for the application?

It is highly recommended to use Google Chrome.

Are there any restriction for the HSE University employees which define requirements for the future research supervisor of a Russian postdoc?

No, there are none.

Is it obligatory to use Russian language in the application forms?

Russian language is a priority, but the commission will also consider applications submitted in English.

Can an HSE subdivision provide additional funding for a postdoc?

Yes, it is highly appreciated.

How should the postdoc’s annual achievements be formalized and presented?

Russian postdocs are obliged to submit an annual report based on the plan of the research work discussed with the research supervisor before the start of the employment.

Is it necessary to arrange a Russian postdoc for a position within the existing staffing table?

No, there are additional rates introduced for postdocs.

Is it possible for a postdoc to work in the framework of an already existing project of the research subdivision?

Yes, it is.

Is it obligatory that a PhD thesis (диссертация на соискание степени кандидата наук) has been defended before the start of the employment?

Yes, it is.

Is it obligatory for a research supervisor to arrange which publications and events are expected from a Russian postdoc by the end of the academic year?

Yes, it is.

Can Russian postdocs apply for the academic allowances?

No, they cannot.
