International Seminar ‘The Human Dimension of Time’ Begins at HSE Perm

‘The Human Dimension of Time’, an international research and educational seminar, is taking place at HSE’s Perm campus from August 27-30. HSE Perm is happy to welcome academics and researchers from the Netherlands, Italy, Israel, Tashkent, Odessa, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk to the event.

International Lessons in Cyber Law

HSE’s international summer school on cyber law took place for its third time this year and saw the participation of young academics from Russia, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Armenia, India and a number of other countries. Invited experts included Gaetano Dimita of Queen Mary University of London, Giovanni Riccio of the University of Salerno, and David Bernstein from IBM Israel.

HSE Scholar Recognized at Academy of Management Annual Meeting

From August 1-5, the Academy of Management h­eld its 74th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). The Annual Meeting is the premier conference for more than 10,000 academics, and professionals in the scholarly management and organization field. This year it was attended by a delegation of eight representatives from the Higher School of Economics.

Highlights from 4 th LCSR Summer School

The 4th Summer School of the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research (LCSR) was centered around Categorical Data Analysis and saw the participation of more than 40 junior academics from universities and research centres of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Italy, Germany, Poland, Romania, Israel and the U.S.

HSE Scholars Take Part in Global Political Science Congress

In July, instructors and students from the HSE’s Faculty of Social Sciences took part in the 23rd World Congress of Political Science, which was held in Montreal by the International Political Science Association. Two collective projects by the HSE were presented on special panels.

Igor Chirikov Appointed Director of the SERU International Consortium

Igor Chirikov, Research Fellow at the HSE Institute of Education, who has been appointed director of the Student Experience in the Research University International (SERU-I) Consortium, will start working at the University of California Berkeley from August 2014, but will still continue to supervise  research at the HSE Institute of Education.

Student Delegation from Singapore Coincides with Master Class by Professor Desai Narasimhalu

From July 5-12, the HSE Innovation and Enterprise Office is hosting a visit by Singapore students. Their programme will include educational, as well as cultural and entertainment activities. Included in the programme is a master class by Professor Desai Narasimhalu, known by many as the sensei of the innovation industry.

Centre for Youth Studies Expands Cooperation in Scotland
For the third time the Centre for Youth Studies (CYS) at the HSE Saint Petersburg has participated in the Dalglish Visiting Fellowship, a programme of international cooperation in which scientists from SRC ‘Region’ and the Centre for Youth Studies receive training at CRCEES (Centre for Russian, Central and East European Studies) in Glasgow. In 2014, Elvira Arif, a CYS researcher, won the only position that is provided annually for Russian researchers within the programme.

The annual symposium of the Association of German and Russian Economists (dialog e.V.), which is open to all who are interested, will take place in Moscow on May 23-25. The dialog e.V. Association has held the symposium for 15 years in a row and is in its own way a platform for creating and developing the Russian-German contact network in the fields of economics, politics, management and education.
