Ekaterina Streltsova, Junior Research Fellow of the Department for Statistics of Science at the Institute for Statistical Studies and the Economics of Knowledge, took part the third International Conference on History and Society Development. Her report was recognized as the best at the conference.
On Tuesday, December 10, 2013, visiting expert Gunnar Prause will deliver the lecture “Green Corridors, Innovation, and SME Development” at the HSE. The event has been organized by the HSE Research Laboratory for Economics of Innovation. We spoke to Professor Prause ahead of his visit and asked him about his work.
Dr Juha Kaskinen, Director of the Finland Futures Research Center (FFRC), University of Turku is visiting the HSE Moscow in the framework of the ‘International Foresight Academy’ project developed by EU, the first organization to bind together foresight activities around the globe by supporting researcher mobility between leading Foresight Centers of Europe, North and South America, and Asia.
December 5-6, 2013 HSE held an international conference “Diderot, Encyclopaedia, Enlightenment”, which was organised jointly by the Philosophy, History and Philology faculties. Cultivating guilt, the use of bonuses and penalties, and psychological pressure on employees are not the best ways to improve a company’s efficiency. According to a HSE Laboratory of Positive Psychology study of work motivations, professionals will be most efficient if they have an intrinsic motivation to work, which is related not to earnings, but instead, to an interest in what they do.
Dec. 4, 18:00 - 19:30 the HSE Public Policy Department will hold a seminar on the ‘Development of schools of public policy in Russia, Europe and globally: university-based research, programs, and professional communities’. The seminar leader Dr. Robert Hoppe agreed to answer some questions for us that indicate his thinking around the issues which arise in devising and implementing public policy and its development as a subject of study.
Opportunistic behaviour among Russian employees is often provoked by employers themselves. Delays in payment of salaries result in absences and a decrease in productivity. Andrey Kaplan studied these issues in his paper ‘Influence of Employee’s Individual Characteristics and Company’s Specifics on the Level of Absenteeism’.
