Research Seminar: 'Comorbidity and Adapting to Chronic Conditions in Russia’

On Monday, 5th June, the International Centre for Health Economics, Management, and Policy (CHEMP) at HSE, St. Petersburg held another one of its signature research seminar series. Maria Kaneva, a senior research fellow at the International Centre for Economics of Healthcare and Its Reforms at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy in Moscow presented her research study entitled 'Comorbidity and adapting to chronic conditions in Russia’.

In Search of Polycentric St. Petersburg

On May 16, 2017, the HSE Graduate School of Urbanism (GSU), together with the ARTS4CITY project, held a workshop on ‘Looking for Polycentrism’ in St. Petersburg. Workshop participants created an improvised map of a ‘decentralized’ St. Petersburg. Vicente Guallart, Academic Supervisor of the Shukhov Lab (Laboratory for Experimental Urban Design), and Nadezhda Khort, Manager of the Shukhov Lab, took part in the workshop on behalf of GSU.

On April 10-11, 2017 the Russian-Finnish conference for doctoral students ‘Current Legal Scholarship in Russia and Finland’ was held at HSE Faculty of Law. Doctoral students and professors from HSE and the University of Helsinki took part in the event.

Examining Moral Change in Modern Societies: A Conversation with Hermann Dülmer

On April 12, Professor Hermann Dülmer of the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg delivered a special lecture at the Higher School of Economics entitled 'Modernization, Culture, and Moral Change in Europe: From Universalism to Contextualism' within the framework of the 7th LCSR International Workshop on Subjective Well-being and Growing Inequality. An expert in sociology and social psychology, he spoke with the HSE News Service about his research interests and his ongoing cooperation with HSE.

10th International Conference on Functional Equations

On March 27-29, 2017 the tenth annual conference ‘Functional Equations in Limoges 2017’ was held at the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Limoges (France).

International Student Research Conference at HSE St. Petersburg

On February 2-3, 2017 the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg hosted the International Student Research Conference. The campus became a meeting point for young researchers and professors from Belarus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, Portugal, Russia, the UK, and Ukraine.  For two days, participants attended lectures delivered by keynote speakers, presented posters and discussed issues of social informatics, applied data analysis, regional planning and development, sustainable tourism and development, modern Asia, finance, economic growth, logistics, usable pasts and political science. Sessions covered a wide variety of research interests.

History of Slavic Studies at International Congress of Slavists

A special session entitled ‘Views on European regions in the history of Slavic studies’ has been included in the official programme of the 16th International Congress of Slavists at the International Committee of Slavists’ extended presidium meeting. This special session has been initiated and will be chaired by Leonid Gorizontov. Historians and philologists from Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, and Germany will speak at the session.
