New paper by CLMS Director Vladimir Gimpelson, CLMS Senior Research Fellow Anna Lukyanova and CLMS Research Fellow Anna Sharunina "Economics and Politics of the Public-Private Wage Gap (The Case of Russia)" is published in the IZA Discussion Paper Series.

2nd IZA/HSE Workshop: Ten Years after the Financial Crisis - Labor Market Adjustment in Emerging and Post-Transition Economies was held in Moscow 11-12th October. Participants presented the results of studies dedicated to the analysis of labor market issues in post-transition and emerging economies. A special focus was on the process of labor market adjustment in the aftermath of the Great Recession and its consequences.

CLMS members participated in XIX April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development which was held 10-13 April in NRU HSE in Moscow.

This prize is awarded to HSE staff who’ve authored the best books and textbooks while working at the University.

Golden HSE Award was bestowed to all members of the Centre for Labour Market Studies - Vladimir Gimpelson, Rostislav Kapeliushnikov, Nina Vishnevskaya, Anna Lukiyanova, Aleksey Oshchepkov, Anna Zudina, Anna Sharunina, Evgenia Chernina.

CLMS members were nominated for 5 monoghaphs published in 2006-2017 that were dedicated to the comprehensive analysis of Russian labour market.

Article "The returns to training in Russia: a difference-in-differences analysis" by Pavel Travkin and Anna Sharunina was published online in International Journal of Training and Development.

Higher pay is usually the main argument in favour of a job change. Often, people can expect to earn more only if they change employers. In Russia, according to researchers from the HSE Centre for Labour Market Studies, labour mobility is higher among younger people, highly-skilled personnel, residents of big cities, and employees of foreign companies.

of Russians working in the public sector have a higher education. Among those working for the private sector, only 27.3% hold a diploma of higher education.

Anna Sharunina, Junior Research Fellow at the Centre for Labour Market Studies took part in the Advanced Summer School on Economics and Econometrics, that was held at the University Campus in Rethymno, Crete from July 26 to August 2.
