Valeriia Gorbacheva was born on December 23, 1990 in Saint-Petersburg.

In 2012 she graduated from the St. Petersburg State University, in 2014 from MGIMO University (Master's degree), in 2018 from the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (PhD).

From 2014 to 2022, she worked in the National Committee on BRICS Research in the following positions: Expert, Adviser to the CEO, GR-Director.

From 2014 to 2022, Valeriia Gorbacheva served as Junior Researcher Fellow at the Center for Russian Strategy in Asia at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Author and coordinator of the annual BRICS International School (2017-2022). Coordinator of the BRICS Academic and BRICS Civil Forums within the framework of the Russian BRICS Chairship in 2015 and 2020 (more than 1000 participants in total).

Author of scientific publications (articles, monographs), published in Russia and abroad. Participant of major international conferences, including in Brazil, China, India and South Africa. Member of Working Groups under ministries.

Since 2021 - Member of the Editorial Board of the BRICS Law Journal. Expert of the Presidential Grants Foundation and the Gorchakov Fund, Member of the Gorchakov Club, Member of the Expert Advisory Board of the PIR Center, Member of the Board of the South African BRICS Youth Association.

Since January 2023, holds the position of the Head of the Multilateral Strategic Projects Office, HSE University. Since April 2024, holds the position of the Deputy Head of the BRICS Expert Council - Russia (under HSE University).

Representatives from HSE University took part in the X BRICS International Youth Summit

The X BRICS International Youth Summit was held in Ulyanovsk on July 22–26. For the first time, the event brought together representatives of youth organizations, students, and activists from all BRICS countries, including new members of the group: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. Among the attendees of the summit were representatives of the BRICS Expert Council, which was established at HSE University following an order by the Russian Government at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance. The Council performs expertise, analysis, and academic research on the most relevant issues of political, socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation among the BRICS members.

HSE Strengthens Cooperation with India and Creates Opportunities for Dialogue between Experts

Following the visit of the HSE University delegation to New Delhi, cooperation agreements with leading Indian universities were finalised. Similarly, a number of expert events, consultations and negotiations on the development of comprehensive strategic cooperation with Bharat took place. The HSE University delegation also participated in the Raisina Dialogue, one of the largest international expert forums.

'The Emerging Trends in Africa Will Shape the World Order, and We Need to Be Prepared for That'

Africa has the potential to become a new economic giant. Today, African countries are interested in comprehensive cooperation and strengthening their positions in the global arena, and they look forward to receiving assistance from Russia and China in developing their technology, economy, and social sphere. Effective engagement with Africa requires training a greater number of professional African studies specialists. The XXIV Yasin (April) International Academic Conference at HSE University featured a plenary session on 'Africa in a Changing World'.
