The director of HSE Perm returned from a working trip to the Kyrgyz Republic. Galina Volodina met with representatives of ministries, educational organizations and presented a new project for schools.

Priority areas of the creative economy in the Perm Krai (Russia) and the importance of the educational component in the development of creative industries were discussed by experts at the plenary session ‘Development of the Creative Industries Cluster in Perm Region.’ The event was organised by HSE University in collaboration with the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship of the Perm Krai at the ‘Days of Perm Business’ forum.

On September 29, HSE University celebrated the birthday of its Perm campus. Teachers, researchers, department heads, graduates, and students all shared their warm wishes for their university. Eduard Sosnin, Mayor of Perm city and HSE graduate, expressed his certainty that ‘HSE will always be the best university in the country.’

The 10th anniversary scientific conference ‘Neighbours in Research’ was held at HSE University in Perm. This year it received the status of an international event—research was presented by scientists not only from different regions of Russia, but also from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The conference's key concept is interdisciplinarity, and as a result, reports were presented from various branches of science, including economics, linguistics, sociology, law, digital technologies, and neuroscience.

As part of his working trip to Perm, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov visited the site where the new campus is being built, and also held talks with the Governor of Perm Krai, Dmitry Makhonin. The student campus is expected to be fully operational in 2026. The campus will house learning spaces, laboratories, a sports complex with a swimming pool, a congress hall, and a hotel complex for students and teachers.

An official HSE University delegation representing all four campuses visited Uzbekistan from October 3–6. HSE managers, teachers and researchers met with their peers from partner universities and government agencies to outline new areas of cooperation, discuss joint projects, programmes, and activities for students, and hold lectures and master classes. The participants shared their impressions of the trip with HSE News Service.

On September 12, 1997, HSE University in Perm was established by decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. A year later, the university enrolled its first students.

HSE University in Perm has become the first academic partner of the Training Centre under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties have signed a cooperation agreement in education and research.

Galina E. Volodina has been the Campus Director in Perm since 1997. Under her leadership, the Perm campus has turned into the major player in shaping the region’s future—be it general education, retaining of talents, or R&D. As part of his official visit to Perm, HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov met with Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of Perm Krai. They signed a cooperation agreement between HSE University and the Government of Perm Krai. Key decisions made during the meeting include the creation of a HSE Lyceum in Perm for 10^th and 11^th-graders, with the first enrolment in 2022.

HSE University is famous for not only its various locations throughout Moscow, but also its regional campuses in three other major Russian cities. We are delighted to tell you about HSE’s second youngest campus in Perm through an interview with its Director, Galina Volodina.

On November 27, the HSE Academic Council held an awards ceremony dedicated to the university’s 25th anniversary. The meeting saw the participation of representatives of the Russian President, members of government, and members of the Russian Federal Assembly. Governmental awards were given to a number of HSE employees for their tremendous accomplishments.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree for the commendation of prominent public and political figures. Andrey Zhulin, Vice Rector at HSE Perm, Galina Volodina, Director of HSE Perm, and Valeria Kasamara, HSE’s Senior Director for Government Relations, are among the figures mentioned in the decree.

HSE Perm and the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre have signed a cooperation agreement which was simultaneously a progress report and the beginning of a new stage in their working relationship.

On May 30^th the third annual meeting of the Higher School of Economics International Advisory Committee (IAC) opened at the HSE.
