Assessment Compliance Scale
At HSE University, grades are given on a 10-point scale, where every point can be converted both to a 5-point grading system, which is officially applied in Russia, and the ECTS grading scale.

“0” ('zero' grade) can be used as sign of a student’s disciplinary misconduct (plagiarism, violations of academic standards).
When can the grade “0” be used?
In the following instances:
- if a student has not started on an assessment element during a class or examination period;
- if violations were identified, as prescribed by the Student Internal Regulations at HSE University, e.g., copying of written works or when preparing verbal answers, using clues when completing verbal assignments, double submission of written works, plagiarism in written works, committing fraud when completing written works, fabrication of data and results;
- in other instances, specified in the Regulations for Interim and Ongoing Assessment of Students at HSE University.
Grade Conversion Scale – upon the transfer of results of previous education
When carrying out transfers of results of previous education* , the following scale for grade translation shall be used (i.e., whereby the lowest point within a respective point band is to be awarded under the 10-point scale used at HSE University):

* upon transfers of students from another academic institution to HSE University; transfers of students from one educational programme to another within HSE University; admission to HSE University as an external learner; transfers of results for completing educational elements at other institutions while studying under individual curricula either upon one’s own initiative or when taking part in the academic mobility, towards the normative credit load of one's programme; in other instances.
