Media Law Conference, UNESCO Chair, December 7

Dear colleagues,

We invite you to join us in the XXXII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Media Law - 2023", which will be held at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University) on December 7, 2023. Organizers are UNESCO Chair on Copyright, Neighboring, Cultural and Information Rights, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Creative Industries of the HSE University.

The annual conferences dedicated to the anniversary of the adoption of the Russian Media Law of December 27, 1991 have become traditional long ago. They are invariably attended by the authors of the Law, prominent Russian and foreign jurists, theorists and practitioners of mass communications, state and public figures, as well as practicing lawyers, students, postgraduates, university professors, etc. The present conference will be dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the UNESCO Chair at the HSE University and will be held in a face-to-face format with the possibility to connect remotely.

Key reports will be made in framework of the Plenary Session 1 by the authors of the Russian Media Law - Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr., Prof. Yuriy Baturin (topic - “Information Technologies: Threats and Risks for an Individual and Society”), Dr., Prof. Mikhail Fedotov (topic - "The Role of UNESCO in Harmonization of Relations Between the State and Media"), corresponding member of the International Academy of Comparative Law, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Vladimir Entin (topic - "Intellectual Property - Booster or Brake of Media Development").

The three subsequent plenary sessions will focus on the topics raised:

Session 2 - "Information Technologies and the Transformation of the Nature of Media",

Session 3 - "The State and Media in the Legal Field",

Session 4 - "Law and Creativity in the Media".

The conference starts at 10 AM (MSC). Pre-registration is mandatory; participation is free of charge; working languages are Russian and English.

The UNESCO Chair at the HSE University accepts applications for participation in the conference as a listener  until 4.12.2023 inclusive. Applications for participation in the conference as a speaker  will be closed on 01.12.2023. Talking points of the report should be sent by this date to the following address tis@hse.ru. 

After the conference it is planned to publish the most interesting reports in the quarterly scientific and analytical journal "Works on Intellectual Property", published by the Publishing House of the HSE University
