International Forum for Young Scholars of Soviet and Post-Soviet History and Culture:The Forum’s Third Session Offers a New Opportunity for Research Presentations and Discussion
The Institute for Advanced Soviet and Post-Soviet Studies / International Center for the History and Sociology of World War II and Its Consequences of the National Research University – Higher School of Economics, Moscow is pleased to announce a call for papers for the Third session of the International Forum for Young Scholars of Soviet and Post-Soviet History and Culture.
This new academic convention the first two sessions of which took place in Moscow in 2017 and 2018 is open to Ph.D. students and young scholars who have completed their Ph.D.’s within the past three years. Applicants from all countries are welcome.
The third session of the International Forum is to be held at the Higher School of Economics, Moscow, on 9-10 December 2021. Due the pandemic-related travel restrictions, the Forum will take place in a virtual format(on the Zoom).
This forum is intended to allow young scholars the opportunity for interdisciplinary cross-fertilization with their own peers and with an esteemed group of senior scholars. We invite candidates from all sub-disciplines of history who are interested in presenting scholarly papers on Soviet and post-Soviet history and culture. Candidates from the disciplines of cultural studies, anthropology, Slavic studies, art history, literary, and cinema studies are also welcome.
The forum has a scholarly committee consisting of senior scholars who review applications. We plan that the committee members and some other distinguished scholars will participate in the forum’s sessions. The following senior scholars participate in the committee:

We expect that the forum will have about fifteen participants. The participants will be chosen by the review committee based on their paper proposals. Applications can be submitted in Russian or English and must include:
1. A cover letter with exact contact details
2. An updated CV
3. List of publications
4. Paper proposal (no more than 250 words)
5. One recommendation letter (to be sent directly to worldwar2@hse.ru)
