Online Media and Mobile Applications Office Established at HSE
On February 3, 2020, the Online Media and Mobile Applications Office was established at HSE University. It includes the departments responsible for the development and support of the HSE website, as well as the department responsible for publication verification (the unit staff members of which worked on the creation of Robot Isaac). The departments were previously part of Office of Public Relations and Information Resources.
The Mobile Apps Unit, which was created as part of the Digital University in 2019, also joined the Office. The unit team includes students who created the HSE App. By the end of 2019, the number of app downloads exceeded 66 000. According to Maxim Nemkevich, the unit head, a new app for the April Conference 2020 will be launched soon.
The Online Media and Mobile Applications Office plans to expand its expertise in web analytics and forecasting. Currently, website analytical systems (Google Analytics, Yandex.Metric) contain a large amount of data about users and their behaviour collected over the course of several years, but previously there were no resources to fully analyse them and decide what technical changes should be made to the website.
In addition, the office plans to develop predictive analytics based on data about website users (and other corporate IT systems): predictive models with machine learning elements could be built for the effectiveness of marketing channels. Forecasting the success of certain marketing events can help plan and organise these events in future. This is a practice that hasn’t been implemented at HSE yet.
Dmitry Koptubenko will supervise the Online Media Office. Alexey Chukarin will serve as Senior Director for Digital Transformation.
