Seminar presentation of the UN World Population Prospects 2024

On the evening of July 11, 2024, World Population Day, the Population Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs presented the updated World Population Prospects 2024. On July 12, the International Laboratory for Population and Health Research in collaboration with the National Center for Population and Health Research of the National Research University Higher School of Economics held a seminar to present the new projections, where they also discussed the population projections for Russia prepared by Federal State Statistics Service, projections of the Global Burden of Disease and the health of the elderly in the context of population aging.

Seminar “Excess mortality in the US during the COVID-19 pandemic”

On June 4, the “Modern Demography” seminar featured a presentation by Ekaterina Degtiareva, research assistant at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science, University of Oxford, on excess mortality in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seminar "Demographic development of Kazakhstan in the late 20th - early 21st centuries: state and problems"

On May 14, at the "Modern Demography" seminar, representatives from the international research center "Digital Social Research" at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (Republic of Kazakhstan) presented reports on the ethnic and demographic situation in Kazakhstan during the 20th and early 21st centuries, as well as on the level of demographic security in Kazakhstan.
