From 8 to 12 September 2025, the 7th EUROSOIL Congress took place in Seville, Spain, bringing together more than 1,000 soil scientists from 63 countries under the topic “Advancing Soil Knowledge for a Sustainable Future.” The congress opened with a series of keynote lectures by leading global experts. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Rattan Lal highlighted the pivotal role of soil in the 21st century; Panos Panagos (Joint Research Centre, European Commission) discussed challenges and opportunities for soil science and policy as well as presented the new Soil Monitoring and Resilience Law; Claire Chenu (INRAE) delivered a lecture on soil carbon science for EU policy. Heike Knicker explored the biochemical effects of biochar; Manuel Delgado-Baquerizo spoke about soil biodiversity under global change; Laura B. Reyes Sánchez addressed soil science education; and Peter Schad discussed the future of international soil classification.

Laboratory of Theoretical Computer Science held a scientific school entitled "Elements of Complexity Theory, Combinatorial Matrix Theory, and Graph Theory"

On 23–24 September, the session “Key Drivers for Building Sustainable Food Systems and Innovative Nutrition Models in the One Health Paradigm” was held at the National Centre “Russia” as part of the 5th International Conference “Quality and Safety of Food Products”. It brought together leading scientists and industry experts. Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Mechanisms of Longevity Maksim Shkurnikov and research fellow Ivan Antipenko delivered a compelling talk on five Lactococcus strains that became the focus of lively discussion.

On September 25, laboratory staff memebers Mikhail Smirnov and Anna Moiseeva presented at the conference "Current Issues in Analytical Philosophy" in Tomsk.

Researchers at the Molecular Physiology Laboratory of HSE University presented results of a multidisciplinary investigation into preeclampsia, correlating single-cell sequencing data from placental tissue in early-onset preeclampsia with experimental hypoxia induction in cell models. For the first time, gene expression profiles in diseased placental samples were directly compared to the molecular response of trophoblasts subjected to chemical hypoxia induction using a novel oxyquinoline derivative.

The conference is dedicated to 15 years anniversary of the Ronald F. Inglehart Laboratory for Comparative Social Research.

On September 23, 2025, as part of the RSF project "Factors of Intensification of SME Resources under External Uncertainty" (Project No. 23-78-10149), the research team held its latest working seminar.

An employee of the International Laboratory of Microphysiological Systems took part in the International Conference for Young Scientists “Genetic Technologies in Biomedicine”

From September 11th to 15th, the Voronovo Educational Center hosted the International Laboratory for Social Integration Studies' autumn school, entitled "Women as Agents of Change in Turbulent Times: Reducing Risks and Expanding Opportunities." Students from HSE, MGIMO, and other higher education institutions. Participants listened to lectures by sociologists, anthropologists, economists, and philosophers on topics related to women's agency.

On September 17–20, 2025, the First Caucasus School on Experimental Research and Cognitive Sciences took place at the Gornaya Legenda venue of Adyghe State University (ASU). The event was organised by the ASU Experimental Linguistics Laboratory, the HSE Centre for Language and Brain, and the HSE Centre for Sociocultural and Ethnolinguistic Studies. The school brought together over 50 participants—students, doctoral candidates, and early-career researchers from across Russia, along with lecturers and speakers from France, Serbia, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
