On October 15, 2021, the International Laboratory for Population and Health of the Higher School of Economics (NRU HSE), together with colleagues from the Northern State Medical University (NSMU) and the  Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), held a seminar "Using eHealth data for informed decision-making and increased quality of health care in Russia”.

International seminar "Ageing and frailty in Norway and Russia"

Seminar October 12-13th 2021, Moscow, Russia
With this 2-day seminar, brought together scholars in the field of ageing and frailty for knowledge sharing and networking. Building on the International project on cardiovascular disease in Russia (IPCDR) and the Know Your Heart (KYH) study, we have initiated a project focusing on early ageing in Russia and Norway. The project is lead by Senior Scientist Bjørn Heine Strand at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), and the project team consists of Dr. Alexander Kudryavtsev, Northern State Medical University (NSMU), coordinator of Heart to Heart collaboration Dr. Laila Hopstock (UiT The Arctic University of Norway), and principal investigator of IPCDR Prof. David Leon, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) / National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University). The seminar combined of an online and a physical meeting. It is kindly hosted by the HSE University in Moscow with the assistance of Dr. Vladimir Shkolnikov, Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) and HSE University.  The seminar was held in a mixed format.

On October 19-20, 2021, a conference dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the city and the 25th anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod Branch of the HSE was held in Nizhny Novgorod.

HSE ISSEK Researchers Analyse Opportunities for Scientific Cooperation between Developing Countries in BRICS + Global South Format
Volume of R&D funding and number of Scopus-indexed publications of the BRICS countries in total already exceed those of the EU-total and the United States. These metrics have opportunity for further growth if the five developing countries strengthen scientific cooperation with other countries from Global South that have significant growth potential. Researchers from the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge Alexander Sokolov, Sergey Shashnov, and Maxim Kotsemir analysed the opportunities for research collaboration within these clusters of countries along with the obstacles standing in the way of greater cooperation.

Robots help automate routine tasks, as well as learn how to make rather autonomous decisions, and yet it is unclear, who should be responsible for those decisions. The XI International Academic Conference ‘Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy’, conducted online on October 15–25, 2021, started with a comprehensive analysis studying the social effects of digitalisation.

Language is the flagship journal of the Linguistic Society of America and one of the most respected general linguistics journals in the world; perhaps the most prestigious one.
