International scientific conference Foresight: Innovative Answers to Global Challenges, organised jointly with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), was held at the Higher School of Economic on 18-19 October, 2012. For Russian long-term futures research experts, it was a major venue for discussing promising areas of future-oriented studies.
Developers of the Russian S&T Foresight 2030 presented the results of their year-long work at the scientific conference at the Higher School of Economics on 12 November, 2012. The participating experts discussed global trends which affect the future of the economy and society, new markets, products, and promising S&T areas.
On November 6, 2012 a public workshop, dedicated to "green" energy, by Professor Dimitrios Mavrakis was held at the Higher School of Economics. According to the expert, "green" energy development is able to defeat the growing global threat of energy shortages and decreasing living standards caused by the deteriorating environment.

A meeting of International Advisory Board of the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK’s) Foresight Centre was held at the Higher School of Economics on 17 October, 2012. The Board members — representatives of the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry, the Manchester University and other prominent international organisations active in futures research — suggested a wide range of recommendations to facilitate further development of the ISSEK’s Foresight Centre.
