During the session “Microfluidic Technologies: Will Organ-on-Chip Replace In Vivo Studies?”, Evgeny Knyazev presented the laboratory’s research projects, including: Development of an in vitro intestine-on-a-chip model with physiologic permeability characteristics; RSF grant project: Microfluidic placenta-on-a-chip model for the study of preeclampsia.
At the seminar held on November 21, 2024, MLLE employees Anastasia Dolbnya, a research intern, and Anna Derkacheva, a researcher, talked about modeling the distribution of vegetation classification units (Brown-Blanke system) in the tundra zone of Western Siberia.
International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration hold working webinar with Leading Research Fellow of the International Laboratory of Social Neurobiology Vladimir Kosonogov. Researchers discussed the first results of an experiment in which participants were shown videos about the digitalization of public services, learned about their attitude to them and measured emotional reactions.
Technological and cultural transformations that contribute to the development of trusting relationships with customers and increase their loyalty were themes of the second Bank of Russia conference «Focus on the customer». The plenary session was attended by Elvira Nabiullina (Chairman of the Bank of Russia), German Gref (Sberbank PJSC), Stanislav Bliznyuk (TBank JSC), Vladimir Verkhoshinsky (Alfa-Bank JSC) and Alexander Krainov (Yandex LLC).
On November 15, 2024, at the scientific seminar of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy (IDLab) at HSE University, Andrey Smirnov, a research assistant at theLaboratory of Sports Studies, presented his report on the topic "How Home Advantage Affects Coaches' Strategic Decisions in Football."
On November 13, 2024, the III inter-faculty student scientific and practical conference named after L.L. Lyubimov took place at HSE – Perm. The International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy (IDLab) actively participated in the conference. Laboratory staff served on the jury, while assistants presented their research findings and received valuable feedback.
A team of scientists at HSE University, in collaboration with the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, studied how people respond to deception when under stress and cognitive load. The study revealed that smoking habits interfere with performance on cognitive tasks involving memory and attention and impairs a person’s ability to detect deception. The study findings have been published in Frontiers in Neuroscience.
Can human life expectancy be more than 100 years? How do heat and cold waves affect mortality? Do the elderly experience isolation from society? Does alcohol-related mortality differ by region of Russia? These and other issues were discussed on November 8 at the international conference "Current issues of Russian Demography" organized by International Laboratory for Population and Health.
