Plans for water

Russia’s fresh water supply is among the largest in the world, but these resources are not always used efficiently. According to Yuri Golubkov, director of S&T Policy and Modernisation department of Renova Group of Companies, optimising the water sector management first of all requires sorting out organisational and legal issues, followed by solving technological problems. In the framework of a joint HSE — Renova foresight project, HSE experts analysed strategic approaches to managing the water sector suggesting four different scenarios.

Information Society Indicators in the Russian Federation: 2015

This data book continues the series of annual publications by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE ISSEK). It presents statistical data on ICT infrastructure, activities of ICT sector enterprises, and content and media sector. It also presents summary indicators of business activity of enterprises rendering IT services, and ICT usage by enterprises, households, and individuals.

On 10 April, 2015 participants of the XVI HSE Annual Conference’s Science and Innovation section hosted by ISSEK discussed various tools facilitating international cooperation in the scope of the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020. One of the events of the XVI HSE Annual Conference’s Science and Innovation section hosted by ISSEK was the workshop on cross-border cooperation in the framework of the OECD’s Knowledge Triangle. The participants discussed the roles of education, research and innovation activities in securing global competitiveness for the European countries.

Parenting Styles and Economics

Does the economy influence the way people bring up their children? How can we determine and measure a child’s utility? How can parenting styles be categorized in an economic model? These are the questions that Professor Fabricio Zilibotti of the University of Zurich addressed in his honorary lecture ‘Parenting with Style’, which he delivered at the April International Academic Conference.

On April 7th – 10th HSE hosted the XVI April international conference on economic and social development.The conference is cross-disciplinary, and members of various fields and disciplines participate. Members of ILSCR participated in the organization of three sessions of the “Sociocultural processes” section and delivered the following talks.
