On February 1, employees of the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research and students of the track "Sociology of the Public Sphere and Social Communications" took part in a seminar dedicated to discussing new understandings of masculinity, associated, among other things, with the term "caring", as well as with the concept of "affective capitalism" .

 An award ceremony for the winners and laureates of the Student Research Paper Competition 2022 was held at the HSE Center of Cultures on February 1.

On January 31, as part of the scientific seminar “Culture Matters,” Dmitry Grigoriev (Ph.D., researcher at the Center for Sociocultural Research, Higher School of Economics) and Albina Gallyamova (intern-researcher at the Center for Sociocultural Research, Higher School of Economics) gave a presentation on the topic: "Ecocultural psychology".

Researchers from the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology at the Higher School of Economics conducted a joint study with colleagues from National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Center for Digital Biodesign and Personalized Health Care (Sechenov University) and Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, dedicated to the study of the link between low expression of the IGFBP6, ELOVL5 genes and lipid metabolism in breast cancer cells. The results of the study will be published in the journal Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences.

On January 10, the first laboratory seminar of the new year was held. The discussion focused on exploring the factors that influence genetic testing decisions in four countries.

Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova, Head of the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research, delivered a guest online lecture "A Profession of a Social Worker: a sociologist's view" at the Faculty of Social Work at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian State University in Astana, Kazakhstan, on January 18.

About a year ago, HSE University was among the first group of Russian universities to receive a grant from the ‘Priority 2030’ Strategic Academic Leadership Programme and began implementing strategic research projects. HSE University recently defended its report before the programme's board. Elena Odoevskaya, HSE University Vice Rector and coordinator of the HSE Development Programme for the Period until 2030 and the ‘Priority 2030’ programme, spoke to the HSE News Service about what has been achieved this year and how the format of strategic projects is changing at the university.
