The seminar of the Linguistic Convergence Laboratory on November 10 was held in the format of a joint meeting with linguists from the Max Planck Institute for Human History (Jena). Damian Blasi made a report in which he presented his hypothesis regarding the dynamics of the number of languages since the early Holocene.
On November 11 Dimitris Kilakos (PhD, Adjunct Lecturer, University of West Attica, Greece) took part in the "Culture matters" research seminar with the report "Modern conservatisation and the "truth regime" of the pandemic".
On November 6 Klaus Boehnke (PhD, professor, Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, Deputy Director, Center for Socio-Cultural Research, HSE) took part in the "Culture matters" research seminar with the report "Does COVID-19 propel value change: A comparison of Germany and the United Kingdom?".
The Issue 6 prepared by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge as part of Russian Cluster Observatory activities is dedicated to the assessment of innovation development of Russian regions on the basis of ranking scores.
The pandemic has put global development on hold and this is a chance for Russia to occupy market niches that were previously closed. But innovation should become as essential as air and, without information technology, new niches will still not be open. Alexander Chulok, Director of the HSE UniversityCentre for Science and Technology Foresight, spoke about this in a special report at the global conference‘Accelerate Global 2020’.
