Interdisciplinary research using artificial intelligence is actively developing at HSE University in St. Petersburg. Researchers from six university laboratories are jointly launching new projects to use AI to solve problems in sociology, linguistics, and psychology.

II Digital Governance and Public Administration: Global and Interdisciplinary Perspectives
The International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration (The Laboratory) organized second global and interdisciplinary virtual conference «Digital Governance and Public Administration: Global and Interdisciplinary Perspectives» in June 2025. The meeting provided multiple perspectives on the developments in digital public administration and governance. Researchers from Russia, Brasil, China, South Africa and Israel shared their scientific results during three sessions. Participants from all over the world could participate in Q&A sessions after each researcher’s presentations.

On May 28, 2025, a seminar titled "Reproductive behavior of Russian women with different levels of education" explored variations in the reproductive behavior of birth cohorts of Russian women.

On May 30, 2025, a general meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) announced the results of the elections for its full and corresponding members. Around 1,800 individuals took part in the voting. Among those elected this year are scholars from HSE University.

The International Laboratory of Dynamical Systems and Applications at HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod conducts in-depth theoretical and applied research, including the study of ocean waves, solar corona reconnections, volcanic phenomena, and ship stability. The lab’s researchers, who have received more than 20 significant research grants over the past five years, actively cooperate with Russian and international colleagues from China, Spain, the USA, the UK, Brazil, and other countries. Prof. Olga Pochinka spoke to the HSE News Service about the laboratory’s work.

Aysylu Ataeva, Research fellow of the International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration, and Anna Klimentieva have published a new article titled "Process Approach to Assessing Technological Convergence of Russian Regions: Dynamics of Innovation Gap" in the journal Voprosy ekonomiki (No. 5, 2025).

Air temperature and population health in Russian cities: results of the first national study, 2000–2019

On May 15, the International Laboratory for Population and Health, in collaboration with the International Laboratory of Landscape Ecology, held a seminar on “Air temperature and population health in Russian cities: results of the first national study, 2000–2019.”The seminar featured presentations by Sergey Timonin, a research fellow at the Australian National University, and Natalia Shartova, a postdoctoral researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health.
