Our faculty visited Arctic

October 13-19, 2019 in Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen, the SVF-8063 School of Society and Advanced Technology in the Arctic, organized by the Arctic University of Norway (UiT), was held. Senior colleagues and research assistants of the Higher School of Economics participated in it as students and teachers. There were also specialists and students from other countries. A number of disciplines were in the training course, including mathematics and data analysis. This is the second school of the “Arctic project” of the HSE DeCAn lab -the first one was held in 2018 in Tromsø, Norway.

Petr Parshakov presented his PhD thesis «The Economics of eSports: Elements That Affect Performance», which he plan to defend 24 October 2019. Partucularly, Petr presented the structure and logic of the thesis.

How to Manage the Transitions

On September, 17 Derk Loorbach, Director of the Dutch Research Institute for Transitions (DRIFT), Professor of the Faculty of Social Science, Erasmus University Rotterdam, gave a lecture on the topic ‘Sustainability Transitions: New Governance and Action Research’ within the framework of the Dutch Science Talks project at Higher School of Economics. The lecture introduced the field of sustainability transition research and gave an outline of the approaches towards managing this transition.

HSE University Brings Major Conference in Philosophical Logic to Russia for the First Time
On October 2-4, HSE University hosted the international conference Trends in Logic 19. Current Issues in Philosophical Logic for the first time in Russia. The conference, which attracted a number of prominent Russian and international scholars, was organized jointly by the journal Studia Logica and the HSE International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy.
