Leading scientists from HSE University have won the Scientific Category of the 2024 Best Russian-Language Scientific and Popular Science Works Competition by HSE University employees in the "Biology and Medicine" section for their research on predicting the effectiveness of chemotherapy with gemcitabine in patients with bladder cancer.

HSE University has announced the results of the first Competition of Joint Basic Research Projects 'International Academic Cooperation' held from December 11, 2023, to April 8, 2024. Highly successful research teams at HSE University, having extensive experience in collaborating with international partners, took part in the competition. A total of 25 applications were submitted from departments across HSE University's campuses.

The project to develop a microfluidic placenta-on-a-chip model for studying various aspects of normal and pathological placental physiology, including one of the severe pregnancy complications—preeclampsia—has won in the competition "Conducting Fundamental and Exploratory Scientific Research by Individual Scientific Groups"

The staff of our Laboratory and the Pinsky Centre of General and Extracurricular Education of the HSE University won the competition of the Russian Science Foundation "Conducting fundamental scientific research and exploratory scientific research by small individual scientific groups" (regional competition). 

According to the Regulations, “The Medal of Recognition is not just a mark of how many years you have spent with the Higher School of Economics. This is recognition of your knowledge, experience, talent, work and professionalism.

The Russian and Brazilian scientists have started the joint development of a new theory of high-temperature superconductivity, which will explain the nature of recently discovered superconductors with multiple condensates, as well as the so-called topological superconductors. Mauro Doria, Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and Alexey Vagov, Director of the Center for Quantum Metamaterials at the Higher School of Economics, told HSE Daily about how cooperation will develop.

11 scientific articles have been published in Q1 journals, including Nature Physics and Physical Review Letters. The research results were also presented in 17 reports at leading international scientific (scientific and practical) conferences in the Russian Federation and abroad.
