The International workshop “Social Inequality and Value Polarization: a Cross-Country Perspective”, co-organized by the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research and the Department of Sociology at the HSE in St.Petersburg, opened its doors on September 16, 2019.

On August 26–30, 2019, the International Laboratory of Stochastic Algorithms and High Dimensional Inference (HDI Lab) held the Second Annual Conference ‘Structural Inference in High-Dimensional Models’. The focus of the event this year was on the following topics:
– High-dimensional probability and statistics;
– Statistical and computational optimal transport;
– Markov Chain Monte-Carlo (MCMC);
– Deep-network mathematics.

On 6 September, research assistant of the International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy presented a project in a colloboration with research fellow from Institut Jean Nicod.

The 115th annual political science conference organized by the American Political Science Association took place in Washington, D.C., from August 29 to September 1. It was traditionally attended by the ICSID IIMS researchers.

On Wednesday, July 17 the all-Russian seminar "Mathematical methods of decision analysis in economics, finance and politics" was held. Professor Vadim Levit gave a lecture on "Critical and Maximum Independent Sets Revisited"

Anton Kazun, ICSID research fellow, took part in IAMCR conference that was held in Madrid (Spain) on July 7-11, 2019. He presented his paper«Global News Flow in G-20: Attention to Countries vs Attention to Leaders» (co-authored  by Anastasia Kazun).

 The symposium will take place on September 5 2019 as part of the 25th “Architectures and Mechanisms of Language Processing”
