Scientific Report "Calculating Corruption: Political Competition and Bribery under Authoritarianism"
HSE International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID) and NES Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions held another session of their Research Seminar on Diversity and Development on February 28th, 2017. On January 31 – February 1, 2017, a final seminar of the project “From disparities in mortality trends to future health challenges (DIMOCHA)” took place at Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Rostock, Germany). In 2013-2017, this project brought together the researchers from the leading European demographic centers, who are working in the field of mortality and population health. The main goal of the project was to perform a complex analysis of disparities in mortality and life expectancy across developed countries and to shed light on the mechanisms of its rising and lowering at different points in time during the second half of the 20th - beginning of the 21st century. Special attention was paid to the analysis of detailed cause-specific mortality trends across the countries. One of the major outputs of the project was launching a new online database - The Human Cause-of-Death Database (http://www.causesofdeath.org/) which provides long-term and harmonized series on cause-specific mortality.
Elena Shakina has presented a report on scientific publications of the laboratory for 2014-2016 as well as the laboratory's strategic plans for 2017-2019.
International Laboratory of Intangible-driven economy participated in the XXII workshop on Accounting and Management Control on the 19-20 January, organized by University of Vigo, Spain. A series of investigations were presented.
The session held on January 17-21 was dedicated to the development of Laboratory strategy for 2017-2019 years, discussion of the issue of attracting new members and more academic contacts.
On Wednesday, January 18 the all-Russian seminar "Mathematical methods of decision analysis in economics, finance and politics" was held. Vsevolod Malinovskiy from CEMI RAS gave a lecture on «Dynamic model of company in the insurance market considered as a complex reflexive system»
