The impact of digitalisation of the economy on the national labour market commanded increased attention in recent years. Development of information and communication technologies (ICT) leads to the emergence of new professions and promotes employment in the ICT sector. Experts at the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) have calculated, on the basis of the Rosstat survey, how many people work in ICT-related professions.

Mathias Lerch, PhD, research scientist of the Laboratory of fertility and well-being of the Laboratory of fertility and well-being of Max Planck Institute for demographic research presented a paper "Fertility change in urban and rural areas of developing countries".
On April, 13th, the last day of the XIXth April International Academic Conference on Social and Economic Development in HSE, Professor Eric M. IQ.hse.ru studies how many articles are published by Russian scientists. According to the report "Russian Science and Technology in Figures" prepared by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge, after a marked downturn that lasted until 2013, the publication activity of Russian scientists began to grow.

Andreev, PhD, laboratory head of the International laboratory for population and health NRU HSE, and Vladimir M. Shkolnikov, PhD, academic supervisor of the International laboratory for population and health NRU HSE, the research scientist at the Laboratory of demographic data of Max Planck Institute for demographic research, presented a paper "Relationship between mortality rates and economic development in the regions of Russia".
In recent years, the number of women in the Russian research world decreased from 151500 in 2014 to 148300 in 2016. However, there are more doctoral and postdoctoral scholars amongst the female population than males, according to the recent issue of the HSE ISSEK data book “Science and Technology Indicators in the Russian Federation”.
