Danilova, junior researcher at the International laboratory for population and health NRU HSE, research fellow at the Data laboratory of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, presented on the "analysis of the quality of mortality data by cause of death in Russia and its regions".

Electoral Integrity Project published new datasets online
Dataset on Perceptions of Electoral Integrity (PEI-5.5) by Pippa Norris, Thomas Wynter and Max Grömping is available now! This dataset by the Electoral Integrity Project evaluates the quality of elections held around the world. Based on a rolling survey collecting the views of election experts, this research provides independent and reliable evidence to compare whether countries meet international standards of electoral integrity. The datasets are available for analysis at three levels: COUNTRY-level (161 observations); ELECTION-level (260 observations), and also EXPERT-level (2,961 observations). The link to the database is located in the "Resources" section of the LCSR website.

Seminar "Social and spatial connectivity and demographic change: Innovative analytical approach based on micro-level census data"

The seventh scientific seminar ‘Modern demography’, of International laboratory for population and health NRU HSE, was held on 18th of October. Sebastian Klüsener, deputy head of the Laboratory for fertility and social well-being of Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock, Germany, presented a paper "Social and spatial connectivity and demographic change: Innovative analytical approach based on micro-level census data".

David Leon, professor of epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, associate professor at the University of Tromsø - Arctic University of Norway, presented his report on “Cardiovascular mortality in Russia: towards a 360 degree assessment".

On this seminar researches on cancer and its determinants based on the data from cancer registers and the role of cancer registers in determining the real status of oncological aid provided to the population were discussed. Giedre Smailyte, head of the Laboratory of cancer epidemiology of the National cancer institute, Vilnius, Lithuania, Domantas Jasilionis, research scientist at the Laboratory of Demographic data of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock, Germany and Vakhtang M. Merabishvili, head of the Population based cancer register of St. Petersburg, chairman of the Scientific and methodological council for the development of information systems of the cancer service of the North-Western Federal District of Russia, St. Petersburg, Russia, presented their papers.

Seminar "IPUMS-International: big, integrated population microdata for Russia, Europe and the world"

The fourth seminar ‘Modern demography’ was held on the 27th of June, where Robert McCaa, research professor of the Population center of the University of Minnesota, presented an international project IPMUS (Integrated Public Use Microdata Series) – harmonized microdata base of population censuses .
