Cooperation Established between HSE and LUISS University, Italy
On 8 June 2015 HSE hosted the delegation from the Guido Carli Free International University for Social Studies (LUISS Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli, Italy), led by Rector Prof. Massimo Egidi, aiming at cooperation development with Higher School of Economics and signing the Memorandum of Understanding between our institutions.
Within Italy, LUISS has the reputation of being a highly selective and excellent private business university. LUISS is 3rd among Italian private universities in general, 2nd concerning research (Il Sole 24 Ore 2014) and 1st among Italian private middle-sized universities (Censis 2014).
The meeting started with opening remarks presented by HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov who expressed his thankfulness and highest appreciation to the Embassy of Italy in the Russian Federation for its consistent support in development of cooperation activities and establishing new partnerships between Italian and Russian institutions. There are more than 10 Italian universities cooperating with Higher School of Economics based on interdependence and common interests. More than 18 agreements have been signed between HSE and esteemed Italian universities, 5 of those refer to student exchange. During this academic year HSE hosted 13 Italian students from partner universities, two Italian students studying at Double Degree Master’s Program in International Relations in Eurasia, and one more student – at Double Degree Master’s Program in Strategic Management of Company Finance.
There were Prof. Svetlana Maltseva and Associate Professor Mikhail Komarov from HSE School of Business Informatics at the meeting who shared their experience of development and implementation of English-taught educational program on Big Data Systems. Prof. Vasily Klucharev has set a very interesting and informative presentation on implementation of English-taught educational program on Cognitive Sciences and Technologies: From Neuron to Cognition.
During the meeting the deans and vice-deans of HSE Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Economics, International Laboratory of Decision Choice and Analysis and Banking Institute introduced academic programs, offered by HSE.
Along with signing MoU between our universities, the LUISS delegation expressed its strong interest in further cooperation development with HSE departments, as well as in creating Double Degree Master’s Program in International Managment, and Economics and Finance, and developing research projects in psychology, economics and political sciences.
At the end HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov concluded that “discussion with LUISS representatives, as well as signed MoU will be instrumental in increasing education dialogue between our two countries, and will be a framework to be filled with substance“.
