A team from the Centre for Sociocultural Research won an RNF grant on the topic "Topical issues of digitalisation in Russia: socio-psychological barriers and ways to overcome them"
The project leader is A.N. Tatarko, Director of the Centre for Sociocultural Research, Doctor of Psychological Sciences. The winning project is complex and deals with the most important, from the psychological point of view, problems related to digitalisation in Russia. In recent years, digitalisation of various spheres of Russian life has been progressing at a tremendous pace. The most intensively digitalised areas are: education, public services, the financial sphere of society, and the political sphere of society. In this regard, we have proposed a project that examines the socio-psychological problems of digitalisation in the most important spheres of Russian society in order to find solutions.
'Russia Is Not Colder, but Weather Contrasts Are Greater Here.' What HSE Scientists Shared with Visitors at 'Russia' Forum
On February 7, the lecture hall of the Russian 'Znanie' ('Knowledge') Society hosted a series of talks by HSE researchers and faculty as part of the 'Russia' International Exhibition and Forum. The talks covered a diverse array of topics, such as the interplay between innovation and creativity, how values are passed down between generations, debunking myths about Russia, the principles of successful communication in various contexts, and the concepts of collectivism and individualism. The events were open to the public.

On November 8, 2023, the X International Scientific Conference "Culture in Society, Between Groups and Across Generations" was held, annually organized by the Center for Sociocultural Research at HSE University. The event also featured a roundtable discussion on "What is happening to the identity of Russians amidst the special military operation?"
‘People and Society’: HSE University Hosts NAUKA 0+ All-Russian Festival
On October 7, a ‘People and Society’ thematic platform opened at HSE University’s Cultural Centre as part of the NAUKA 0+ science festival. The second issue of 2023 of the Royal Society Open Science published an article by Dmitry Dubrov and co-authors, "Raising the value of research studies in psychological science by increasing the credibility of research reports: the transparent Psi project".

Special issue "Socio-Psychological Consequences of Accelerated Digitalization in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic," prepared by the staff of the CSCR, was released
The first issue of 2023 included a special issue of "Psychology. Journal of the Higher School of Economics" dedicated to the consequences of digitalization while COVID-19. Articles by CSCR staff N.Tatarko, M.Efremova, D.Dubrov, M.Bultseva, E.Bushina, A.Mironova, G.Rodionov, E.Maklasova, Z.Lepshokova, V.Galyapina based on the results of research conducted within the framework of the Russian Science Foundation project "The Impact of Digitalization on the Social Capital and Values of Russian Society" were published in this issue.
COVID-19 Denial Depends on a Population’s Trust in Social Institutions
An international team of scholars studied how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted Europeans’ stress levels and their trust in their national governments and the healthcare systems. They found that respondents were most stressed by the state of the national economy, and only after that, by the risk of catching COVID-19 and possibly being hospitalized. In Western Europe, people trust their governments more than in other EU countries. The results of the study were published in Royal Society Open Science.

IX Summer School "Design of Cross-Cultural Study"
27 - 30 June 2019 near Moscow there was the IX Summer School "Design of Cross-Cultural Study", organized by the International laboratory for socio-cultural research, Expert Institute, Higher School of Economics. The teachers of the school were the foreign researchers: Michael Bender (PhD, Assistant Professor, Tilburg University), Byron Adams (PhD, Assistant Professor, Tilburg University), and Ella Daniel (PhD, Assistant Professor, Tel Aviv University).

Prize of the competition for the best paper in the special issue of the Russian Psychological Journal
The paper of researcher fellows of the International Laboratory for Sociocultural Research and teachers of the master's program "Applied Social Psychology" Anastasia Batkhina, Dmitry Grigoryev, Dmitrii Dubov and Тomas Jurcik (associate professor of the Department of Psychology HSE) was recognized as the best paper of the special issue of the Russian Psychological Journal by the decision of the Competition Commission. The Russian Psychological Journal is a leading Russian peer-reviewed journal of psychology and an open-access journal established by the Russian Psychological Society.
Changing Values and Identities in the Post-Communist World
This book offers a comparative analysis of value and identity changes in several post-Soviet countries. In light of the tremendous economic, social and political changes in former communist states, the authors compare the values, attitudes and identities of different generations and cultural groups. Based on extensive empirical data, using quantitative and qualitative methods to study complex social identities, this book examines how intergenerational value and identity changes are linked to socio-economic and political development. Topics include the rise of nationalist sentiments, identity formation of ethnic and religious groups and minorities, youth identity formation and intergenerational value conflicts.

Applied Social Psychology goes to Tilburg University with a partner visit
On November 28th - December 2nd the delegation of MSc Applied Social Psychology visited Tilburg University (the Netherlands). The purpose of the trip was to extend the Double Degree agreement and to promote the program in the Netherlands.
