Tatar Aphasia Test

The Tatar Aphasia Test is a first full-fledged study and a diagnostic tool of speech deficits in the Tatar language that was created with consideration of diverse psycholinguistic variables, their influence on speech function at different levels and stages of speech rehabilitation, and the connection between speech impairment and the neurobiological language substrate—the brain.

Today, there are no standardized and clinically tested approaches in the Tatar language for assessing the condition of a patient impaired by aphasia and a thorough study of their speech function. This deprives Tatar-speaking bilingual patients of both qualified diagnosis and, as a result, proper speech rehabilitation. In addition, it limits the access of modern global medicine, psychology, and neurophysiology to the understudied language pathology data.

In clinical practice, a detailed account of a language impairment and awareness of its mechanism enhances the process of speech rehabilitation by instituting a more individualized and scientifically driven approach and will contribute to developing a full model of language behavior in the case of bilingual aphasia.
