Moscow Area Beaches Offer a Wealth of Choices for Recreation

Even in the wealthy, eternally busy city of Moscow, the summer heat can’t be avoided. Just like anywhere else, people here love to swim, although not everyone has the opportunity to fly away to warm destinations. The city’s beaches therefore provide an essential escape.

One of the best places for summer recreation is the Rublevsky beach on Myakininskoye shosse, which features a clean sandy beach, clear water, a playground with a waterslide, changing rooms, restrooms, lifeguards and first aid, amusement facilities, restaurants and cafes, among other things. Free parking is not far away. The entry fee is approximately 150 roubles for adults and 50 roubles for children. Boats, canoes, water skis and other sports equipment are available for rental.

Olivkovy beach, located near Gorky Park and the Andreyevsky Bridge, is divided into two separate areas. The first, which charges an entry fee, features a boardwalk and has a café with lounge chairs, electrical outlets for laptops, and internet access. The second is available to the public free of charge, although it does not feature amenities. The beach takes its name from the olive garden located nearby.

One of Muscovites’ favourite places to relax is the Pirogovskoye Reservoir, which features a beach located in Mytishchi. It can be reached by minibus from the Medvedkovo metro station. Apart from swimming, it is also possible to fish in the reservoir.
