Exhibition of Nominees for Kandinsky Prize at Former Udarnik Cinema
The Kandinsky Prize is an annual national award in contemporary art, founded in 2007 by the Artkhronika foundation.
The exhibition includes a wide range of contemporary art genres: photography, paintings, installations and media projects. A total of 35 works are being shown, 18 of them are nominated as Project of the Year, 12 in the ‘Young Artist. Project of the Year’ nomination, and 5 works are in a new nomination, ‘Research Project. History and Theory of Contemporary Art’.
The Udarnik Centre of Contemporary Art is the former Udarnik Cinema, one of the oldest cinemas in Moscow. It was built in 1927-31 by the architect Boris Iofan as part of the renowned House on the Embankment, an apartment complex for the Soviet elite.
