Victory Day Exhibitions

On May 9th, 2015, Russia celebrates the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War – this is how the part of the World War II that took place on Russian territory is called in Russia. Several Moscow museums have prepared special exhibitions dedicated to the war, in which the Soviet Union lost over 26 million people, and the victory over Nazism in Europe.

The Victory. Central House of Artists

Military history festival. Audiovisual installation with 25 large-scale screens; movies; book presentations; original posters; postal stamps and postcards; paintings and photos.

Open until May 17.

Opening hours:

Monday – Thursday: 11 am – 8 pm

Friday, Saturday, Sunday and national holidays: 11 am – 9 pm

Ticket price: 350 roubles

Entrance is free for everyone on May 9

Special Project. Victory Day. Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val

The 20th-century department of the Tretyakov Gallery is located in the same building as the Central House of Artists, but with a different entrance. It has also prepared an exhibition dedicated to Victory Day. This includes paintings, sculpture, graphics, archival documents and photographs from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery.

Open until July 19.

Opening hours:

Tuesday – Sunday: 10.00 am – 7.30 pm (ticket office open until 6.30 pm; last admission 6.30 pm)

Closed on Mondays

Ticket price: 450 roubles; 250 roubles for students

The Victory. State Historical Museum

Historical relics, paintings, photos, newsreel footage, personal effects of the war participants, flags, awards, objects from Stalingrad and from the Tegeran Conference; German trophies.

Open until July 20.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 10 am – 6 pm; ticket office until 5.30 pm

Thursday: 11 am – 9 pm; ticket office until 8 pm

Tuesday: closed

Ticket price: 300 roubles; 100 roubles for students

Dedicated to war photographers. The Land of Victory. Multimedia Art Museum

A vast collection of war photos, which reflect the tragedy and horror of war and occupation, the heroism of soldiers, and the suffering of ordinary people. Some of the photographers made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives to take these photos.

Open until June 14

Midday – 9 pm, every day, Monday closed
