A Journey Back in Time: The Private Collection of the Founder of Soviet Design

The Zotov Centre has launched a series of personal exhibitions about artists’ perception of reality. The first exhibition in this series—Rodchenko. Personal—is dedicated to Alexander Rodchenko, an innovator in the field of photography, painting, and design.

Open until January 28, 2024

Alexander Rodchenko is known as one of the founders of constructivism and Russian design.

The Rodchenko. Personal exhibition at the Zotov cultural centre contains 58 iconic photographs from the 1920s and 1930s, as well as personal belongings, periodicals, diaries, and letters. Visitors will delve into the thoughts and fantasies of the artist and discover a different side to him. The exhibition is divided into five thematic sections: City, Reportage, VKHUTEMAS, Workshop and Family. The photographs in each section are thematically connected to other exhibits. Moreover, many photographs feature prominent Russian figures such as Vladimir Mayakovsky, Lev Kuleshov, and Alexei Gan.
