Alexei Mikulin is Back with a Second Exhibition
Plasticine artist Alexey Mikulin immerses us in a world of nostalgia, childhood, and vintage cosiness.
Open: January 3–February 2
Red-brick walls and small figurines on skis resemble a scene from an old animated film. A coffee house with glass walls evokes the smell of coffee and pastry. These are works created by Alexey Mikulin, an artist who works with plasticine.
His exhibition ‘The Door to Apartment No. 10’ was a prominent event in Moscow’s cultural life in 2023. The 3D creations capture the atmosphere of vintage Moscow and other cities with their markets, cafes, and old apartments. Mikulin’s works use a simple material but in an intricate level of detail—plasticine recreates not only the form, but the texture of bricks, old plaster, ceramic tiles, wallpaper, and cobblestone.
The exhibition features old works, which were created by the artist for his son to play with, as well as newer ones created in 2023, such as A Coffee Shop on Pokrovka.
