The Mona Lisa and Notre Dame from the Inside: A Multimedia Exhibition and a Modern Look at Art
The world of art has been revolutionised by various technological advancements. One such groundbreaking innovation is VR, which has opened up endless opportunities for art enthusiasts to enjoy immersive experiences. Now, Muscovites can experience two remarkable virtual projects: a recreation of the iconic Mona Lisa and a tour of Notre Dame de Paris.
Open until January 31, 2024
The virtual project Behind the Glass at The Mars Center of Contemporary Art invites audiences to view Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa—a masterpiece of world art—then take a stroll around Notre Dame Cathedral.
VR allows viewers to spend time alone with the iconic painting, examine it in detail without crowds or cameras, and even discover new facets of it. Find out whether the masterpiece was painted on canvas or another material, as well as why there appear to be cracks on the painting.
After this, visitors can continue to soak up the Parisian atmosphere by exploring a virtual Notre-Dame de Paris, which was damaged in a fire in 2019 and is currently closed for restoration. Thanks to VR, anyone can see the original interior and examine all the stained-glass windows from the 18th century while enjoying a soundtrack of Bach music.
The tour ends with virtual a hot-air balloon ride to enjoy the views of Paris.
The experience lasts a total of 20 minutes.
Address: 5 Pushkarev Lane, Moscow
The exhibition is open daily from 12 pm to 10 pm
Ticket prices: An adult ticket costs 800 RUB on weekdays, 900 RUB at weekends.
Students can receive a 10% discount (when booking online, use the promo code LGOT10).
