This autumn, six HSE University students helped develop the HSE University portal, including the Life in Moscow website. All of them study at the School of Foreign Languages in Moscow. At the end of their internship, we asked the participants to share some of their favourite places to spend leisure time, do sports, and have fun in the wintry Russian capital. Below, Diana and Mary talk about a secret photo booth and invite everyone to attend a free Christmas play performed in English.

In mid-July 2024, the HSE Art and Design School celebrated the results of the 2023/24 academic year at two venues in Moscow. The exhibition entitled ‘Collection: The Order of Things’ opened at HSE ART GALLERY at Winzavod and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA) on Gogolevsky Boulevard. A series of paired solo exhibitions has been launched at the HSE ART GALLERY on Pionerskaya: projects by teachers and students of the HSE Art and Design School are now exhibited at one venue. The first project in this series is by Vladislav Efimov, a teacher, and Alexandra Zamuruyeva, a student of the ‘Design and Contemporary Art’ programme.
HSE ART GALLERY, which was established in 2018, has launched a new exhibition area. The first project in the new space opened on May 28, 2024. The exhibition represents works by more than 50 HSE Art and Design School students and graduates in Contemporary Art, Fashion, and Subject Design.
On March 16, first-year students of the ‘Event Design. Theatre. Performance’ programme at the HSE Art and Design School will perform a shadow play entitled 'Don't Seek Summer in Winter.' The premiere performance and the preceding event are based on a Slovak folk legend and Samuel Marshak's fairy tale 'The Twelve Months.' The performers will guide the audience through the four seasons, allowing viewers to experience all twelve months at once, like the main character in the fairy tale, and to discover light amidst the all-encompassing darkness. The event is open to anyone interested, but registration is required.
From September 18 to November 19, the HSE ART GALLERY is hosting a new exhibition from the HSE Art and Design School: ‘Going Over Old Ground?’ Its curator is Alexandra Mitlyanskaya, artist and head of the Screen Arts and Video Art tracks at the HSE Art and Design School. Guests will see experimental cinema, video art, and animation created by students and graduates of the school.
