Course Syllabus
Abstract
The mentor's seminar is aimed at forming an individual learning trajectory and individual educational results for each student of the trajectory. The mentor defines a list of key educational outcomes that all students of the educational trajectory should achieve.
The seminar can have the format of a standard traditional discipline and a tutor format that provides consultations on scientific papers/projects. At the same time, it is possible to use an asynchronous communication format.
Learning Objectives
- to acquire an undestanding of research directions; to develop an individual curriculum to select and finetune topics of the term paper and master thesis
Expected Learning Outcomes
- A student compares research design
- develop the formal srtucture of research work
- monitor and assess progress and modify plans as required
Assessment Elements
- Brief report on selection of topic of term paperBrief oral report (up to 10 minutes) explaining the choice of topic for term paper, supported by a short memo and/or presentation. The report should explain the substance of the selected topic, anticipated research methods and literature, subject and/or hypotheses of the research
- Presentation of interim results of the work on term paperConstitutes a "pre-pre-defense" of the term paper. Presentation of the interim results of the term paper. Should include an explanantion of the pending work and answers to questions from the mentor and fellow students.
- Final seminar evaluating results of the work during the yearA class discussion involving all the students, evaluating the progress made in study, achievements and difficulties
