Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course "Introduction to International Competitiveness Management" aims to introduce students to the main factors of the external and internal environment that determine management decision-making. The course will allow students to form a holistic view of modern approaches to competitiveness management in international business. The role of socio-economic, political and legal factors and characteristics of the economic structure will be analyzed at the course. The basic principles of project management and characteristics of major functional divisions and their activities in international companies will be considered. Special focus will be given to the presentation and competitiveness assessment of business ideas for the international market on behalf of business representatives and government authorities. On completition of the course students will form a basic level of competencies aimed at effective management decision-making in international business based on an expert substantiation of the competitiveness factors structure, their indicators assessment and presenting the results obtained by means of simplified financial economic models and competitiveness assessment models.

  • The aim of the course "Introduction to the management of international competitiveness" is to form a holistic perception of the set of factors that determine competitiveness in the international market, as well as to improve basic skills aimed at effectively achieving targets in international business. To achieve this goal, a practice-oriented approach to the presentation of material is used, in which, along with the coverage of theories of international business, great importance is attached to the analysis of business cases and holding master classes with representatives of international companies and experts in such areas as finance, information technology, control and modeling.

  • Uses the provisions of the systems-based approach to substantiate the areas of knowledge required for the development of management decisions in international business
  • Describes modern approaches to assessing and forecasting competitiveness, applies their basic capabilities to analyze international business and develop management decisions
  • Identifies the features of doing business in different countries, assesses their impact on certain areas of business, uses the results obtained to substantiate the geographically-distributed structure of the international company
  • Develops, substantiates and presents to an external audience the ideas of international business, taking into account the features of doing business in different countries
  • Determines the main areas of responsibility of the functional units of an international company, structures their impact on competitiveness indicators
  • Substantiates the best conditions for the development of a particular area of ​​international business and participates in their discussion in the framework of negotiations with representatives of business partners and government authorities from different countries.
