Course Syllabus
Abstract
The discipline will allow students to acquire the skills of professional media relations, to understand how the media are organized and what values journalists and other media representatives are guided in their daily work, to form competencies for the independent production of audiovisual content
Learning Objectives
- To form students' basic ideas about the purpose, mission and practice of a journalist on various media platforms, the ethical standards of the profession and the responsibility of journalists to society.
- To acquaint with the features of the work of a journalist and the functioning of a multimedia editorial office.
- To form an idea of the work process of a journalist (collection, analysis, structuring, packaging of information for the preparation of journalistic materials for different media platforms).
- To form basic ideas about the creation of informational text, photo, audio and video materials.
- To form the skills of individual and group work on information materials.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences, to deliver her/his message clearly and to tailor it depending on the audience’s age, education, attitude to the speaker, etc.
- Basic skills in interviewing
- "conquers" the audience, captures the audience's attention
- Student can develop the program of the event (festival), to be is ready to develop a business plan, promotion plan of the event; to understand communication strategies with the target audience group, to build networking partnerships with different groups of stakeholders
- Ability to adapt text for the platforms and means of media communication (texts for TV and radio).
- To be able to discuss argumentatively various theories of war journalism;
- Skills of teamwork, presumiing planning individual workload and personal goals
- Students will be able to maintain civilized and efficient forms of collegial communication
- Capacity for reading specialised journalism texts in English.
- Analyze risks related to platforms.

- Students will learn to discriminate between the quality journalism and adverse media practices;
- Student is able to offer recommendations for improving team and individual work in the project.
